An auto-generated code will be created, however you can overwrite the auto-generated code with anything you would like. We see many charities using easily remembered codes such as RUN25 for say 25% off the entry price to their fun run.
These settings control how the promo code works, including where it can be used, what it applies to, and when it is valid.
Status: Controls whether the promo code can currently be used.
Code: The ‘promo code’ entered by supporters at checkout (for example, FREE26).
Type: Defines how the promo code is used across the platform.
Discount Type: Specifies what the promo code applies to.
Value: Defines the discount amount and how it is applied.
# Entries: Limits how many times the promo code can be used.
Applies To: Controls where the promo code can be used.
Depending on the selected Type, you can restrict usage to specific online events or DIY themes:
Payment Type: Internal use only. This field can be used to indicate whether, if relevant, a promo code has been paid for. For example, if a company covers registration fees for their staff via cheque, select “Cheque” when setting up the promo code.
Valid From: Sets the date and time the promo code becomes active.
Valid To: Sets the date and time the promo code expires and can no longer be used.
Admin Notes Tab: Use this tab to add internal notes for future reference.
In your Promo Code module you can Download Overview or Download Entries to get data on all your promo codes and their use.
When you click into a promo code, within the left hand menu you will see Entries X, this will say how many times that paticular code has been used. Clicking on this will open a list of entrants that can be downloaded.
Within a fundraisers report from your Data Exports module, you can add in the field Promo Code to pull in the promo code used by participants when registering.
You’re running an event that has a $150 registration fee and a corporate partner. Let’s say the Bank of New Zealand, wishes to sign up and pay for their interested staff of 20 people. In this example, we’d suggest you create a promo code with the corporate's name in it to personalise the code, such as TEAM-BNZ. Set the value to 100 and select Percentage from the drop-down. Then choose 20 from the # Entries drop-down to limit the code's use to 20 times. You could then lock the code off to the specific event the BNZ team are registering for.
You want to email all incomplete registrants (people who’ve started registering but didn’t finish) with a $25 discount, and limit to the first 50 people who return and complete their entry. In this case, you would create a promo code with a value of 25 and select Amount from the drop-down. From the # Entries drop-down, select 50.
